Solar Power
Clean, Abundant, and Low-Emission
Solar energy is the most abundant energy source on Earth. The Egyptians were the first people known to use solar on a large scale to heat their homes. Solar power produces no greenhouse emissions and in the manufacture of components produces incredibly small carbon footprint. According to the International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), the lifecycle emissions per kWh of electricity produced by rooftop solar are 20 times less than electricity generated by coal.
Taiwan’s Bold Vision for Renewable Energy
Taiwan is making significant strides in renewable energy, setting ambitious goals to transform its energy landscape. Taiwan’s push towards renewable energy is driven by several factors, including the need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, enhance energy security, and ensure a sustainable future. The government has implemented several policies to promote renewable energy. The “Green Energy Industries and Technological Innovations Plan” and the “Renewable Energy Development Act” are two cornerstone initiatives aimed at fostering the growth of renewable energy sources such as solar.

Ambitious Targets
One of the most notable targets set by the government is to generate 15% of the island’s electricity from renewable sources by 2025 of which 20 GW of installed solar capacity. This ambitious goal underscores Taiwan’s commitment to a greener future and has spurred significant investments in the sector. With abundant sunlight averaging 1644 hours per year, Taiwan has vast potential for solar power generation. By 2035 solar is forecast to account for 36% of total installed generation capacity.
AIEV Invests in Taiwan’s Solar Future
AIEV is expanding its footprint in the clean energy sector by investing in the Taiwanese listed company Electric Power Technology to take advantage of this significant opportunity. The Taiwanese company has recently committed to purchase solar generation capacity.
